JJ and Suzanne are incredibly knowledgeable and
professional. Both of them did a thorough inspection on the
home we are planning to buy and then took the time to answer all
of our questions on the spot. We left the inspection with a
notebook complete with a summary of the inspection, color photos
and detailed information on everything inspected. The best
part though was their willingness to answer more question several
days after the inspection. They truly offer superior
customer service before, during and after the job is done.

The definition of WITH IT! This company is completely and
utterly on their home inspection game. It is a small company,
owned by a couple that works as a team (JJ and Suzanne). Who does
that and doesn't go crazy?? Anyway..
They came in with walk talkies and thoroughly inspected our house
with the detail of an eagle looking for prey. All the while
talking to us and explaining everything in fantastic detail. At
the end they had printed out pictures of the damages they found,
presented in a binder and had downloaded the info to a website
that explains and offers tips on repair. They also recommended
great follow-up contractors that they had known and worked with
for years in West Seattle.
I have never been so impressed by a home inspection agency. Maybe
I had the bar set low but still you could tell they loved each
other and what they did. Awwww warm and fuzzy home buying fun.

Home inspectors are like health insurance -- you're tempted to cut corners here, but you really should spend the money to get it done because not doing so exposes you to so much risk. After all, a house is one of the biggest investments you'll make. I was looking for someone with experience and who was independently minded -- for example, home inspectors recommended by your real estate agent may have some conflict of interest, since they're incentivized to please the referring agent, who themselves have some incentive to get the deal closed.
HIPS fit the bill on both counts. JJ had a couple of decades of experience as a contractor before becoming a home inspector, and both are excellent inspectors -- he does the outside, roof, crawl space and structure, and she does the interior. As Prema had mentioned, it's all very high-tech and efficient. Also, they definitely come across as independent-minded. He does a great job of explaining and both are very, very thorough. I think I've found my home inspectors for our next home, as well. Claire
D commented WOW. I can't believe how thorough and
professional theses guys were. After 3 hours of painstakingly
reviewing the house, JJ and Suzanne presented us with a printed
binder (complete with color photos that they had taken minutes
before) and went through each line item in detail. These guys are
extremely knowledgeable, well-connected and very personable. I
can't say enough good things about our experience!

We used Home Inspection of Puget Sound (http://www.hipspro.com),
a husband and wife team who were friendly, thorough, and
knowledgeable. Their operation is slick. One of them
will man a computer in the house while the other goes around with
a radio and a camera and takes photos and calls in things that
should be noted, which are then recorded in the computer. By the
time they leave, you've got a printed report complete with photos,
and your inspection report is available online. Their
website has links to a bunch of resources, including content on
their own site and on third party sites, often linked from within
the report itself.

I hired Home Inspections of Puget Sound today for a new
townhome we're buying, and I think JJ and Suzanne are a great team. The two of them were super courteous, efficient, thorough, and had their system down pat; The instant reports and photographs they had right after the home inspection were a huge bonus. Overall, great value. I also loved the overall attitude and enthusiasm they showed on the site--
They were super friendly, and I truly felt like the two of them were real advocates of mine. I only wish more home professionals were even half as good as these two. I'll definitely call them the next time around and recommend them to our friends.

"Thought I’d send you a little follow up note since you did our house inspection.
Our builder was very respondent to the items you listed." "They have fulfilled all the requests. The “major” ones I was concerned about were the findings in the crawlspace and the exposed drywall on the closed garage door."
One of the biggest surprises they did was install the “French drain” between the houses. In fact, they have went and installed a few others around mine and the neighbors property!!
